Zero G Armor Iron Man (19)

Today’s review is of a subject near and dear to my heart, IRON TRON!

Zero G Armor Iron Man (3)Well, not really, no. It is actually the latest Iron Man iteration from Marvel Universe Series 5, the Zero Gravity Armor Iron Man.

Essentially, this Zero-G suit is a repaint of the Modular Armor version released back in Series 3, which I think is one of the best Iron Man armors released in the Marvel Universe line.

The armor is sculpted to look sleek and functional, falling somewhere in between the comic-book and realistic styles.

The details are sharp and seem to mix hard plates with some sort of flexible armor underneath. It also incorporates a very versatile articulation design, which represented a clear improvement over the standard first –generation Iron Man body molds. The articulation on the Zero -G suit consists of:

Zero G Armor Iron Man (5)• Pegged hinge neck.

• Pegged hinge shoulders.

• Upper biceps swivel.

• Hinged elbows.

• Swivel wrists.

• Floating torso.

• Ball jointed hips.

• Upper thigh swivels.

• Double hinged knees.

• Pegged hinge ankles.

• Rocker feet.

This mold was among the first at this scale to sport the newer ankle design and is also one of the very few Iron Man figures in this scale that can actually look upwards.
Zero G Armor Iron Man PHCEven though the action figure design is excellent, what I really loved about this release is the paintjob. To be honest, I am not even sure if similar design were actually featured in any of the comics, but since I am a big Tron fan, having this mold decorated in this color scheme was just impossible for me not to buy it.

There is not really a lot of paint here, since the figure was molded mostly from black plastic, and the deco consisting mostly on solid lines of light blue color running through the limbs.

The armored section on the lower legs and forearms are actually made from gunmetal gray plastic and given a slight shading wash. The hands and forearms show black panels and blue lines painted to match the rest of the armor.

The faceplate was painted in a rich, warm gold color and it displays a geometric line pattern running from forehead to jaw line. The eye slits on my figure seem to have been just filled with the same blue paint used for the lines in the body.

Being a Series 5 release, Zero-G Iron Man comes with no accessories at all, but even so, I still think  this is a pretty worthy addition to any Iron Man collection.
