Gamora (14)

Gamora (7)Gamora is yet another action figure based on the movie design seen in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Hasbro released this particular incarnation of the assassin as part of their Marvel Legends Infinite Series in 2014.

The sculpting is completely new for Gamora, as she doesn’t seem to share pieces with previous female action figures released in this line and her body proportions tend to be more realistic than those of your regular spandex-clad vixen.

Gamora’s costume seems to be movie accurate, and I would say that the facial likeness to actress Zöe Saldaña is decent, although the fit of the hairpiece is somewhat off, in my opinion.

Articulation-wise, Gamora has the full Marvel Legends treatment consisting of:

Gamora (10)• Ball jointed neck.

• Pin & disk shoulders.

• Pin & disk elbows.

• Pin & disk wrists.

• Floating torso.

• Pin & disk hips.

• Upper thigh swivels.

• Double hinge knees.

• Pin & disk ankles.

Overall, articulation works just fine discounting the limitations one would expect from the hair sculpture, but Gamora still does have balance issues caused by her tiny feet and high-heeled boots.

She can hold herself upright in the more neutral stances, but it is very hard to achieve a lasting equilibrium in the more dynamic poses.

Gamora (2)The paintjob on Gamora is rather intricate, as it merges the color of the plastic with panels on her costume that represent different materials. The end result looks fairly complex and even though the paint application on the face is somewhat lacking, it is neatly applied.

As far as accessories go, Gamora comes armed only with a thin, double-edged sword of alien design. Unfortunately, the hilt is rather thin for Gamora’s hands, so her grip is rather loose and requires some external help to remain in place.

One other thing included with Gamora is a piece to complete the Groot Build-A-Figure. This time around, the piece included is Groot’s left leg, molded out of brown plastic with no paint anywhere on it.

Overall, Gamora is a good action figure based off the design seen in the very successful Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Of course, the fact that she is also required to complete Groot doesn’t hurt her chances of being added to my collection.

I've been collecting action figures since the original Kenner Star Wars days. Nowadays, I still collect pretty much anything that catches my eye.
