World War Hulk

World War Hulk

When images of the third figure in the third series of Marvel Universe action figures started to appear online last year, I knew that the World War Hulk would be one I had to add to my collection.

‘m sure it was one of those send in x number of proofs of purchase and we’ll send you a poster. I’ll bet I had more than enough at the time this was released to send for it.

TRU Attack on the Pit Headquarters GI Joe Battle Pack (Part 3)

TRU Attack on the Pit Headquarters GI Joe Battle Pack (Part 3)

Finally, part three of three of my review of this “Attack on the Pit” battle pack. And I have saved the best, or at least the more unique pieces for last. The first is the main piece of the set, the molepod. The set is built on the movie scene where Cobra uses molepods to […]

Wolverine (Marvel Legends)

Wolverine (Marvel Legends)

Every once in a while, I see I figure and have a idea for something that causes me to want to get it. In this case,  it was two ideas. Back when I started TVFT, each page was it’s own file and edited the home page by hand. Don’t judge me, it worked […]

Rebel Commando

Rebel Commando

Another of my favorite figures from the vintage era circa 1983 was the Endor Rebel Commando. Stylistically, it was not quite the same as the other vintage Kenner Return of the Jedi figures, something about the coloring, proportions and face sculpt didn’t quite mesh with the other human figures in the line.

TRU Attack on the Pit Headquarters GI Joe Battle Pack (Part 2)

TRU Attack on the Pit Headquarters GI Joe Battle Pack (Part 2)

Last time I checked out the “Good Guys” of this set, Duke and Ripcord. Facing off against them are a NeoViper and Neo Viper Officer. And they are the subject of this weeks, GI Joe review. Probably one of the harder things for me to accept in GI Joe: Rise of Cobra were the Vipers. Not […]

Kit Fisto

Kit Fisto

Kit Fisto has had quite his share of action figures made since his first appearance in Attack of the Clones. Although some of those figures have been actually pretty good for their respective times, in 2011 Hasbro decided to give it go within the fourth wave of figure from the Vintage Collection.

TRU Attack on the Pit Headquarters GI Joe Battle Pack (Part 1)

TRU Attack on the Pit Headquarters GI Joe Battle Pack (Part 1)

Love it or hate it, “GI Joe: Rise of Cobra” brought a bunch of new figures to collectors. Because of the realistic nature of the film, most of the figures took on a more realistic look as well. The two Joe team members we live the film through are Duke and Ripcord. I’m sure they […]

Zam Wesell

Zam Wesell

Back when Episode 2 premiered, I really didn’t buy much in terms of action figures. I saw the Sneak Preview figures at stores and afterwards those same stores carried a rather modest amount of the figures, but at the time the emphasis tended to be on pre-posed action stances with only a smatter of useful articulation on each character.

Grunt (GI Joe Falcon Glider Version)

Grunt (GI Joe Falcon Glider Version)

Grunt was one of the original straight arm GI Joe figures. Out of the that group he was the one that was probably most like a generic soldier. I also remember passing on him as a kid due to accessory math. The thing that lost it for him? No visor. Grunt was recolored and used […]

Han Solo (Hoth Gear)

Han Solo (Hoth Gear)

The figure this time comes with the drawn up hood, a brown coat and a load of extras that could possibly make it the best value deal on this character.

Gamorrean Guard

Gamorrean Guard

Out of all of the figures comprising wave 3 of the Star Wars Vintage Collection by Hasbro, the Gamorrean Guard was right at the top spot of my list.

Embo

Embo

Embo is one of the best ever figures to come out of the Clone Wars line, in my opinion. The figure is well equipped and articulated, plus the character design is plain cool. Add to that that bounty hunters are the rockstars of the Star Wars Universe, and you have a surefire winner in your hands.

Wooof

Wooof

You know the old phrase by Shakespeare “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”? Well, something similar can be applied here, as even though the card states that the character name is officially Wooof, he’ll always be Klaatu to me

Han Solo (Echo Base Outfit)

Han Solo (Echo Base Outfit)

I have never really identified with Han Solo, and accordingly, I have not been too keen in keeping up with the newer action figures released for the character. Back when the line up for the first wave of the new Vintage Collection was announced, the Echo Base Han Solo was one I did not plan to get at launch date.

Spider Man (Super Poseable)

Spider Man (Super Poseable)

Roughly at the same time Hasbro started making their Marvel Universe line, they also launched the Fiercest Foes of Spiderman line. Not unlike the Marvel movie licensed lines, this figures are done in the same scale as the Marvel Universe figures, but there are important differences in terms of figure design.

Aurra Sing (Clone Wars)

Aurra Sing (Clone Wars)

The Clone Wars line has been a very innocuous distraction for me thus far. From each wave, I would pick up one or two figures at most, and sometimes not even that, depending on character selection or figure construction. However, this year things are starting to change, as newer figures are starting to compete with the Vintage line in terms of detail and articulation.

General Grievous (The Vintage Collection)

General Grievous (The Vintage Collection)

The Vintage Collection makes a point of delivering the best (arguably) version of Star Wars characters there is in cool looking retro style packaging. This doesn’t necessarily mean that every figure will be made from new, super-articulated molds, but at least they will be the best available version, which brings us to today’s review.

Cobra Commander

Cobra Commander

I really feel bad for Cobra Commander. In the animated series, he came off as being something of a boob. If you consider he’s put him self in a position to lead an army to take over the world, I can’t see how that could be true. And this army exists under the nose of a bunch […]
