Ghost Rider (Bobble Head)
If you heard the episode of the Action Figure Blues Podcast where I talked about getting this guy, you would know that I was excited bout him.
Previous to this I hadn’t picked up any of Funko’s offerings. They are cute and all, but I was never in the right place at the right time. That and the fact I’m not a big bobblehead fan.
To be honest, I’m not a huge Ghost Rider fan. I’d read about the last 10 or so issues in the 80’s run and that was it. I’m actually surprised I haven’t read more or least went and got an Essentials volume when the first film came out.
I remember seeing Ghost Rider on spinner racks as a kid an being a bit scared of it. Flaming Skull and biker? That was everything society was telling me to stay away from. It also is how I tend to remember 70’s comics. Kind of gritty, supernatural and a bit scary.
The older I got the more these things attracted me, however. I really kind of dig Ghost Rider’s design. It’s simple and not overwrought. You have to admire that.
And this representation of him is the same. He’s stripped down to the essentials of the character.
Of course, the head is where it all starts, and this one is great. The whole thing is cast in translucent orange and has some yellow paint highlights on it. Honestly, this may be one of my favorite toy flame incarnations. The yellow is subtle and sculpt doesn’t try to be overly detailed.
I also really love the fact the skull is slightly off white, while the teeth are bright white. Really set those pearly whites off.
The body if the spikey version of GR, which is okay. It adds a little toughness to him. There is a bit of paint slop on the silver, but none is too obvious or bad.
To finish off the look he has a spiked mace on a chain. I was hoping this was going to be removable, but it’s not. He does look like he’s going to be the snot out of your other desk toys with it, though.
Overall:
I have to say as my first Funko foray, I’m pretty pleased. I even like the bobbling motion. He’s on my desk at work and nods at me as if to say, “Don’t worry, I’ll get ’em.” I have to say, it wouldn’t surprise me if a few more of these end up in my collection.

I have not really paid much attention to Funko stuff locally, but after reading this I may start doing so. Excellent review and very cool bobblehead.
It’s a slippery slope. There are some many properties….
