Kit Fisto

Kit Fisto has had quite his share of action figures made since his first appearance in Attack of the Clones. Although some of those figures have been actually pretty good for their respective times, in 2011 Hasbro decided to give it go within the fourth wave of figure from the Vintage Collection.

The character design didn’t really change much in between movies, but this particular release uses none of the molds from previous versions, as the body has been modified with much better articulation.

The costume is the same; Kit still wears the brown Jedi tunic over darker brown puffy pants. Every bit of clothing is minutely detailed and even though there are not a lot of paint applications on them, each surface has a sculpted fabric-like texture that looks fantastic up close.

The head was also reworked with a more neutral expression and a more symmetric lekku (head-tails) placement. Actually, if you look closely, this figure is much more akin to the way the character looked in Revenge of the Sith rather than his appearance in Attack of the Clones, despite what the card back shows, but that doesn’t change the fact that this figure is awesome.

The articulation model used for Kit Fisto is:

• Ball jointed neck.

• Pegged hinge shoulders.

• Pegged hinge elbows.

• Swivel wrists.

• Floating torso.

• Pegged hinge hips.

• Pegged hinge knees.

• Pegged hinge ankles.

Despite having a rubber tabard, hip articulation is pretty much unhindered in any way, and the fabric skirt allows full lateral movement to the legs. The only joint that has rather limited range is the neck, but then again, given the character design I don’t see how could it be done better.

The body doesn’t have much in terms of paint, seeing that most of it was molded in the right color of plastic from the start, and what little paint there is, is limited to solid blocks of color applied very neatly. In contrast, the head has a more complex deco.

The base plastic color used for head and hands is a subdued greenish hue, with darker green spots applied to the lekku and a very subtle wash with a reddish brown color to provide some shading and improve shape definition. The eyes are painted matte black with a reddish brown ring around each one, and the lekku have what appear to be leather ringlets around them at varying lengths. The tip on each lekku is painted in medium gray gradient that lightens as it goes up.

Accessories are on the rather scarce side of things, as Kit Fisto comes with only a removable fabric cloak, a deactivated lightsaber hilt with a peg to attach it to his waist and an ignited green lightsaber. The cloak seems to be cut from a different pattern than the one Hasbro used previously for the Legacy Collection figures, and it seems fitted specifically to this Kit Fisto figure.

Even though I wasn’t entirely sold on the idea of getting this particular release of the nautolan Jedi, truth is he turned out much better than I expected, and honestly, I don’t see much room for future improvement, making this the definitive version of Jedi Master Kit Fisto.

I've been collecting action figures since the original Kenner Star Wars days. Nowadays, I still collect pretty much anything that catches my eye.
