Toxin

Toxin (9)As I mentioned in early reviews, the Marvel Legends Infinite Series lime produced to promote the second Amazing Spider-Man movie was designed chock-full of figure variants, but the really noteworthy thing is that these variants were actually shipped and distributed in a timely fashion. One such variant is Toxin, who was shipped alongside Carnage under the “Spawn of Symbiotes” moniker.

Toxin
is another of those characters I knew almost nothing about prior to buying the figure. In fact, just by the look of him, I had assumed he was yet another Spider-Man foe, but as it turns out, he is actually one of the good guys despite his rather monstrous visage.

Toxin is built upon the bulky male body developed for Hyperion and a slew of other impossibly muscular characters like Luke Cage or Sabretooth, with only a few original pieces added.

Toxin has a new head sculpt with decidedly weird dentures, but the overall expression on his face is suitably ferocious, while his forearms display a number of spikes protruding just below the elbow joints, with very large taloned hands.

Toxin (13)Articulation on Toxin is extensive and conforms to the usual Marvel Legends standard with:

• Hinged peg neck.

• Pegged hinge shoulders.

• Upper biceps swivel.

• Double hinged elbows.

• Pegged hinge wrists.

• Hinged torso.

• Swivel waist.

• Hinged peg hips.

• Upper thigh swivels.

• Double hinge knees.

• Upper calf swivels.

• Pegged hinge ankles.

• Rocker feet.

All of the articulation points work perfectly and feel firm enough to hold any pose, even though the plastic appears to be more flexible than I expected.

Toxin (15)The paint job on Toxin is minimal, consisting primarily on a bright red highlight airbrushed to the torso, head and upper portion of the shoulders. This paint application is nicely done and goes really well over the dark red plastic the figure is made of. The head has additional paint operations for the teeth, eyes and tongue, all neatly applied.

Toxin does not come with accessories except for a red plastic tendril attachment for his back. This piece is the exact same that was included with Carnage, although the shape is usually different accounting for the way Toxin came in the package.

In addition to the tendril piece, Toxin’s box also includes the head and the flame “cloak” needed to complete the Ultimate Goblin BAF, which are also included with the Carnage variant.

Overall, I am very pleased with this Toxin guy. I love the color scheme and the finish on my figure and it is always nice to be able to flesh out the roster of Spider-Man supporting characters.
