I remember that when I saw the first wave of figures in the Marvel Legends Infinite Series for the Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie, I thought that Hasbro had made a mistake including the version of Captain America in his WWII uniform. Also, the fact that this particular version of the good captain lacked a Build-A-Figure piece made him even less appealing in my mind.
However, as it turns out, this uniform is prominently featured in the last leg of the movie, causing me to recant my decision of not buying this figure.
The figure is not a new sculpt. The same mold had already been used in the Marvel Legends line inspired by the first Captain America movie, but it still holds up quite well next to the more recent Captain America figures as far as sculpted detail goes, even though the WW2 Captain America is a smidge shorter.
• Hinged peg neck.
• Pegged hinge shoulders.
• Upper biceps swivel.
• Double hinged elbows.
• Pegged hinge wrists.
• Floating torso.
• Pegged hinge hips.
• Upper thigh swivels.
• Double hinged knees.
• Pegged hinge ankles.
The paintjob on my figure was just adequate, with no slop or glaring paint errors, although it took me quite some time to find this one figure amidst the rows and rows of figures hanging on the pegs, with the white “A” painted straight and centered onto its forehead.
WW2 Captain America comes equipped with a shield made from pliable plastic and decorated with flat paint. He also comes armed with a silver pistol he can carry in the functional holster sculpted onto his right leg.
Overall, this Captain America figure is a pretty decent re-issue of an older mold even though it is missing a tommy gun from the original release.
