Star Wars “Phone Call in Senate” (E.T. Battle Pack) – April Fool’s 2010

I’ve been emailing back and forth with a guy in Hong Kong for a couple of weeks regarding a couple of  foreign release only items for my collection. After seeing my email and couple of emails, he sent me a question I was shocked by. He asked if I wanted to see a picture of the “Phone Call in the Senate” unproduced Battle Pack. So, you know I had to say yes.

Here’s the picture he sent.

He offered up this explanation for the pack. Apparently, there was a scene filmed for Episode 2 with bumbling Jar-Jar interrupting one of the E.T. senators making a “call home” to tell them of the developments in the senate. The scene has been kept hush due to the licensing issues with the E.T. character. There was apparently an attempt made at the time to make a figure of the E.T. senator. He’s the only new figure included in this set. But wouldn’t we have all bought it just to get him?

The set was produced at a time when it looked like a deal could be reached. When the rights to the character fell through, so did this pack and all record of the scene was removed from the reach of the public.

My Hong Kong source tells me this one of just three or four made. He also tells me the box artwork was to include a holographic E.T. call recipient.
