Marvel Eraseez

I fear I’m developing a love for blind bagged items. I don’t really know why, they’ve typically frustrated me in the past. However, they reeled me in when I saw the Marvel Eraseez. I blame Avengers’ hype.

So what is in those Eraseez packages? There are two small rubber figures that come in pieces. Ironically, the line description shows wave one does not include Wolverine, despite his appearance on the package art.

Each of the figure’s comes in a small bag inside the larger bag. From the included instructions, it appears the number of  pieces varies depending on the complexity of the character’s design.

The simplest is on that I got, Silver Surfer. He is made from a head, body and is ubiquitous surf board.

The figures are styled in a similar big head style to the Marvel Tokidoki Frenzies. And those heads are a big solid rubber ball essentially. There is minimal paint used here to create Mr. Radd’s eyes. The paint does a decent job of creating the deep thinker look from the comics.

The body is very plain here, and all of the bodies have about the same shape it looks like. There’s a peg on the top for his head and a hole in his feet for his surf board. There are some tiny little abs there for detailing on the other wise smooth body.

The board is really plain. Looking like a a slab. A couple of definition lines would have helped it, but it is what it is.

I have to say, the picture on the pack shows him darker than he really is. Honestly, this is an improvement. The light grey is a much better representation of the silver reflective surface of his body.

Spidey is considerably more complex. He’s made from nine pieces. Any where there is a major change in color is a new piece.

I have to say the eyes are really well done this way. The piece fit well into each other and really do make for the true comic book look. Out of everything else in the pack, Spidey’s eyes impressed me the most.

On the downside here is the blue portion of the torso looks like some sort of back brace. It just doesn’t fit quite as nice.

The web lines are sculpted in, and really look decent. Even the paint for the spider on his chest isn’t bad. They even included the spider on his back.

Something to note: these guys don’t like to stand on their own. Those big head really throw off their balance. The Surfer gets the aid of his board, but Spidey doesn’t stay upright for long.

Overall:

I actually was prepared to be disappointed by these guys. I really wasn’t. Obviously, they are not the quality of some of the high blind bagged figures. But, they do serve their purpose of a fun little desktop amusement.

    So are these actually erasers?

  2. Engineernerd says:

They are rubber, so they might. But as soft as they are, I’m suspecting they wouldn’t work real well.

These actually look kinda cool, I hate the whole “blind-box” concept though, it means I usually end up buying 12 and still not getting the one I want…

  4. Engineernerd says:

It doesn’t help that some of them are color only variations.

I’m such a sucker for a blind item. Love the Lego Minifigs. Love the Star Wars Fighter Pods (even though I have NO idea what to do with them, besides collect them). I eyed these Eraseez up the other day and had the willpower to pass, but might have to pick one up next time.

I passed them up 3 times in two days before I picked them up. I want a Hulk now.

I haven’t succumbed to the Fighter Pods yet, since Mrs Nerd said they looked dumb when she saw them.
