Jango Fett (Saga Legends)

Well, in light of the distribution problems with Hasbro product this year, I got the chance to pick up a few figures I had initially passed on. One that was rather high on my list was this version of Jango Fett (SL05) released back in the Saga Legends assortment.

The figure itself isn’t new, but a repack of the Jango mold that first saw the light of day in the 30th Anniversary Collection. The noteworthy thing about this figure is the closest Hasbro got to producing the unarmored, casual Jango from the scene in Episode II where he meets with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Kamino.

This Jango wears a light purple blue shirt with powder blue slacks, but he still has the armored feet coverings and the codpiece, which is molded to the belt and cannot be easily removed.

Regardless of that, the level of detail is quite good, although for some reason Hasbro decided to give this figure the Temuera Morrison head they used for the clones with removable helmets instead of the more scarred one from the other Jango releases, which kind of cements my opinion that this is more of an Expanded Universe Jango rather than a movie one.

Jango is pretty much super articulated, with:

• Ball jointed neck.

• Pegged hinge shoulders.

• Pegged hinge elbows.

• Swivel forearms.

• Swivel waist.

• Swivel hips.

• Pegged hinge knees.

• Pegged hinge ankles.

Since the overall proportions of the limbs are rather slim, all of the joints have a pretty good range of motion except for the hips, because the rubber straps that keep the holsters down get a little in the way, although he can certainly sit.

The paintjob on this Jango is fairly minimal, as most of the figure is molded in the final colors, so most of the paint applications are either small details or applied to the accessories.

And this Jango comes with a lot of accessories. Right off the bat, he has a dark blue fabric poncho, nicely cut and fitted to this scale. Under that, Jango has removable torso armor, a set of clip-on greaves, a rocket pack and his helmet, all painted neatly in bright silver with a few small details picked out in complementary colors.

Jango comes armed with a pair of long silver pistols, but what really sets this Saga Legends release as the superior one is that this also includes a weapons cache like those found in the earlier Weapons Lockers series. All of these extra weapons are not painted at all, but the selection is varied and they all look like the tools of Jango Fett’s trade.

To round things off, Jango also comes with a silver display base, a blue die and the corresponding card for the Galactic Battle Game.

As a whole, the removable armor bits and the extra weapons pleasantly surprised me, making this Jango Fett action figure one that is truly worth getting.

I've been collecting action figures since the original Kenner Star Wars days. Nowadays, I still collect pretty much anything that catches my eye.
