Marvel Heroics

I’m a sucker for items on clearance. Normally, a clear head will prevail.  Mark something down though and I can’t resist. Similar to the tale I told on Episode 37 of the Action Figure Blues Podcast,  I picked up a couple of the Marvel Heroics capsules at the same drug store. At 50 cents, I had to see what was in the brightly colored capsules.

I bought 2. And it turned out pretty well. I ended up with a Wolverine and a Spiderman. Each is in an action pose on a white base.

The Spidey is his standard blue and red pj’s. The pose is typical web slinger. The white web glob coming out of his left hand is about the only thing I find distracting about this tiny figure.

The sculpt really surprised me on him. The pose looks good. The paint is a little sloppy around the feet, but I suspect this is due to the base and size. The eyes are crisp, however. Also, for the scale, the spiders emblems on the chest and back look pretty darn good.

While the paint is a little more sloppy on Wolverine, I like his pose a bit more. The paint does include his eyes, face and stripes under his arms. The claws look pretty good, I thought they were sculpted separately at first.

The base are marked 2 of 8 and 5 of 8. I would guess this means there are eight of these in the first wave.

Yeah, this is the sort of thing I would have expected to get out of a gumball machine as a wee nerd for a quarter. For the the dollar I paid for the two, I’m not disappointed. They are neat little representations of a couple of the main characters. They will fit in perfect with the menagerie of mini figures just below my monitor.

Well, I suppose it’s better than a “guy with a gun” and a “guy in a suit”

I think Wolvie would look good with an “Action Briefcase” 😀

Well, for the price, there is not much to complain about, but these are kind of off-brand chocolate egg material.

Those eggs just aren’t that popular here. Gumball machines used to be the thing back when I was a kid, but they weren’t near the quality.
