Greedo (Black Series)

Greedo SWBS (12)

Well, Greedo is one of the few Star Wars characters I would buy sight, no matter neither the scale nor the maker. Hasbro was wise to include him in the second wave of 6-inch figures in their Black Series.

Greedo SWBS (7)The previous version released in The Vintage Collection was one of my all time favorites in the 3.75-inch scale, and I was expecting the Black Series one to be fundamentally the same figure augmented in size, but the 6-inch rodian is an entirely new design.

Greedo seems to be skinnier this time around. The outfit seems a bit looser on him, as attested by the number of wrinkles. His face also seems to be longer, a trait accented by the slightly oval eyes, but the more I watch this version, the more correct it feels to my eye.

The head sculpt is very nicely detailed, with the spikes protruding individually from his head and the longer respiratory stalks or antennae.

Both the vest and the gun belt can be removed easily, showing the full articulation array consisting of:

Greedo SWBS (13)• Pegged hinge neck.

• Pegged hinge shoulders.

• Pegged hinge elbows.

• Pegged hinge wrists.

• Floating torso.

• Pegged hinge hips.

• Upper thigh swivels.

• Double hinged knees.

• Pegged hinge ankles.

• Rocker feet.

Overall, a very nice articulation model, well integrated into the character design.

The paintjob on Black Series Greedo is good, but it could have been tighter. They should have gone a tone or two darker on the eyes, in my opinion, but the paint application itself is very neat.

Greedo SWBS (15)The yellow stripes on the suit tend to look rather sloppy, with a few uneven edges and some stray paint marks here and there. The vest and body suit were given a shading wash that makes them look slightly worn and dirty, but the shoes look fairly new.

Greedo comes armed with a snub blaster pistol that doesn’t really resemble any of the weapons given to any previous version of the character. The weapon seems to have been molded in black plastic, painted entirely in bright silver and then given a very heavy shading wash with black paint. It fits nice and snug on both his right hand and the holster provided for it.

Greedo is definitely one of my favorite Star Wars characters and this entry in the Black Series is nothing short of stunning, despite the minor paint issues.

I've been collecting action figures since the original Kenner Star Wars days. Nowadays, I still collect pretty much anything that catches my eye.
