Even though Commander Wolffe was not featured prominently during the run of the animated Clone Wars TV show, his appearance in the last two episodes of the series was pivottal to understanding how was it possible for the clones to comply so readily when Order 66 was issued at the end of the war. Certainly, it was sure enough to prompt me to go out hunting for this particular version of the character.

You may recall I was rather disappointed by the Clone Commander Wolffe in his phase II armor released by Hasbro in their Christmas 2012 Clone Wars assortment. The figure I was actually looking after was the one released much earlier (and following a completely different numbering) with his Phase I armor.

This version of Commander Wolffe (CW48) features a removable helmet and uses the super articulated Clone Trooper body with just a different left shoulder pad and a non-removable command skirt.

The face under the helmet is that of a regular Clone Trooper, although it shows a fair amount of damage to it. At some point in his career, Wolffe sustained injuries to his right eye, which left him with a nasty looking scar and a prosthetic eye.
Articulation on this version of Wolffe is more in line with my original expectations and consists of:

CC Wolffe MkI (5)

• Ball jointed neck.

• Pegged hinge shoulders.

• Pegged hinge elbows.

• Pegged hinge wrists.

• Floating torso.

• Swivel hips.

• Pegged hinge knees.

• Pegged hinge ankles.

There are some limitations to the movement range of the hips imposed by the armor design, but Wolffe is actually very well articulated and fun to play around with.

CC Wolffe MkI (7)This version of Commander Wolffe comes molded entirely in white plastic except for the head, and the Wolf Pack markings on his armor are applied on top with a bluish gray paint. The scar on his face is painted in a reddish skin tone, while the artificial eye received a coat of golden yellow paint.

Wolffe is armed a pair of small blaster pistols that fit the holsters built-in on his command skirt, a blaster carbine and a large spring-loaded projectile launcher, as well as the usual a plastic display base, die and corresponding Galactic Battle Game stats card.

I really liked this version of Commander Wolffe. Like most of the clones that share his basic structure, improvements could have been made in regards of the articulation, but this is as close to perfect these guys ever got.

I've been collecting action figures since the original Kenner Star Wars days. Nowadays, I still collect pretty much anything that catches my eye.
