BS Han Solo (6)This version of Han Solo was released early in the 6-inch Star Wars Black Series line and is a depiction of the character as seen in the first Star Wars movie.

The sculpture of the clothes in this 6-inch figure is nicely detailed and it incorporates a removable rubber vest; due to the thickness of the vest piece, the torso underneath seems to have been slimmed down, which makes Han look rather scrawny and long-necked without it.

In addition to the vest, Han also has two different belts with their respective holsters and a pair of extra, gloved hands. The head sculpt is good, but not stellar. The hair does look natural but the portrait of Harrison Ford is a little off, in my opinion.

Articulation is good and adjusts to the usual standard within this segment of the Black Series, consisting of:

BS Han Solo (4)• Pegged hinge neck.

• Pegged hinge shoulders.

• Pegged hinge elbows.

• Pegged hinge wrists.

• Barbell mounted waist.

• Pegged hinge hips.

• Upper thigh swivels.

• Double hinged knees.

• Pegged hinge ankles.

• Rocker feet.

All of these articulation points work fine and are well integrated into the character design. The belt accessories do get in the way of deep stances, but the overall range of motion is quite good.

BS Han SoloThe paint job on Han Solo is good but very sparse. Most of the pieces were molded in the required color of plastic, so most of the paint applications deal with extending areas of one color into another, as is the case of the skin on arms and neck. There are a few minute extra details added for the eyes or the red stripes running down the side of the trousers, all neatly applied.

Han comes with his standard gunslinger belt, complete with holster and leg strap, and a Stormtrooper utility belt, also with the carbine holster sculpted on. Both belt pieces are easily exchanged and rest quite naturally on the figure.

As far as weapons go, Han comes with his custom blaster pistol and an imperial blaster carbine. Both weapons fit either set of hands easily, as well as their respective holsters.

Although I don’t consider myself a big fan of the character, Han turned out so good that I am almost tempted to buy a second figure to have both displayed with different accessories, but I realize that way lies madness especially considering the space issues posed by these larger-scale figures.

I've been collecting action figures since the original Kenner Star Wars days. Nowadays, I still collect pretty much anything that catches my eye.
