Grapple Blast Black Widow
One of the characters I had been expecting for quite some time for Hasbro to make an action figure of was the one played by Scarlet Johansson in both the Iron Man 2 and The Avengers movies. I’m talking about Natalia Romanova, a.k.a Black Widow.
Marvel’s Jubilee
Released as the 23th figure in Hasbro’s Marvel Universe Series 4, Marvel’s Jubilee is one of those rare comic book characters that actually show some aging, from her early teens to her now young adulthood.
Nikto Skiff Guard
Well, Hasbro’s new Nikto Skiff Guard (VC99) is a long overdue update to the original figure made by Kenner for the vintage Return of the Jedi toy line. This is important for some people, because ever since Hasbro re-launched the license back in 1995, fans have had the lingering desire to see the complete roster of characters produced by Kenner in the current line.
Darth Vader
For a character that hasn’t had more than a couple of outings in the Star Wars Vintage Collection by Hasbro, Darth Vader is certainly one that I didn’t feel the need to get once again. However, the latest Darth Vader (VC93) does represent a fairly needed update.
Professor X
Released as the 22th figure in Hasbro’s Marvel Universe Series 4, Professor X is a very interesting addition to the line for a couple of reasons.
Anakin Skywalker
Well, as you may recall, back when Hasbro announced a new action figure line devoted to the then new CGI Clone Wars show, one question that popped up every now and then was if there would be figures made from the characters in the show, done in the realistic style.
Battle Hammer Thor
Well, once I got over the articulation hurdle, I began getting more of the Avengers movie line figures by hasbro, with yet another Thor at the forefront.
Marvel’s Hawkeye
I wasn’t really expecting to see more of Hasbro’s Avengers line locally. I mean, the things seem to sell at a steady, albeit slow pace, but in my experience the stores in my city rarely order anything after the first wave of movie-related figures up until Christmas. With that in mind, it was very surprising to find Marvel’s Hawkeye hanging there on a peg the last time I went grocery shopping.
Clone Commander Cody (CW7)
It has been quite some time since I bought (or even found) any Clone Wars figure. With Hasbro’s resources stretched thin between all of their lines in production, in 2012 we are not getting as much Clone Wars product as last year and some of the figures shipping in 2012 are re-issued from last year.
Iron Man (Classic Comic)
Since I’ve been playing Avengers Alliance on Facebook, I’ve had desire to add some comic style figure to fill out some of my Marvel lines. Since Iron Man figures are still fairly available on clearance round these parts I picked up a comic version of Iron Man. Appearance: Right up front the thing that drew […]
Grand Moff Tarkin
Well, if there ever was one character I absolutely thought that belonged in the Star Wars Vintage Collection by Hasbro, it is Grand Moff Tarkin.
Iron Man Mk.VII (Fusion Armor)
Well, after getting the Shield Launcher Captain America from the Avengers line and seeing it was not as bad as I feared, I convinced myself to go ahead and buy another figure, this time the Iron Man Mk.VII armor from the Movie Series sub-line.
Luke Skywalker (Lightsaber Construction)
Well, it took some time, but finally Hasbro produced the Luke Skywalker figure they should have put out back when they released the Jedi Knight Luke last year on the cardback with the scene from Jabba’s Palace, although this version of Luke Skywalker (VC87) is based on one of the deleted scenes included as an extra for the Blu-Ray release of the original trilogy.
Thor (Shock Strike)
Even though I like Thor as a character, I didn’t get any of the movie-style action figures made of him back when his solo movie came out last year. I did consider getting the casual version of him, but the priority of getting that version never really rose above other concerns. So, when the Avengers line finally was announced I planned on finally getting a Helmsworth Thor, only to be stopped cold in my tracks by the reports of limited articulation.
Colonel Cracken (Millennium Falcon Crew)
With a whole half-wave devoted to characters from the deleted scenes in Return of the Jedi (included as an extra bonus in the Blu –ray release of the original film trilogy), it was inevitable that some of them would be generic background characters.
Cobra Commander (Retaliation)
It sure seems like Cobra Commander is turning into the Darth Vader of GI Joe figures. Yet I keep buying them. Honestly, I was going to set this guy aside and try and flip him later. But it got the better of me. Appearance: Is this a screen accurate Cobra Commander from GI Joe: Retaliation? Who […]
Hulk (Gamma Smash)
The one figure that instantly repelled me from the Avengers line was Hulk, before I went to see the movie. Afterwards, I started to have a change of heart because, after all, the Hulk rocks. By the time I went back to the store, still undecided if I wanted the 4-inch scale version or the larger 8-inch version, there were no more Hulks whatsoever.
Lando Calrissian (Sandstorm Outfit)
It’s been quite a while since we got a Lando action figure with his skiff guard disguise. Back in the 80’s that version of Lando was among my favorites because he had a removable helmet and that was pretty uncommon then.
Captain America (Shield Launcher)
Well, when the Avengers figure line started to show up at stores, I admit I was one of those bemoaning the diminished articulation Hasbro gave to these figures. However, after being exposed to the movie in theaters a couple of times, I convinced myself that I really wanted a figure from this line and […]
Leia Organa (Sandstorm Outfit)
Leia Organa (Sandstorm Outfit) was released in the second wave of figures for the Star ]Wars Vintage Collection (VC88) in 2012, but that doesn’t mean she’s a truly new product, even if the inspiration for this figure comes from the deleted scenes included as a bonus for the Blu-ray release of the Star Wars movies.
