Jawas (CW08)
While the Jawas (CW08) were seen briefly in the Jabba’s Palace scenes from the Clone Wars Movie, it took about two seasons to finally get them done in Hasbro’s Clone Wars line.
Marauder Stormtrooper Rifle
I normally expound about the virtues of Marauder’s GI Joe weapons. However, they produce a number of “Sci-Fi” guns, including a Stormtrooper rifle. I want to say right up front the reason I picked a few of these up was vintage nostalgia for my 3-Position Laser Rifle. While I never had a role-play lightsaber as […]
Darth Malgus
Straight from the Star Wars: The Old Republic videogame, by developer BioWare, comes Darth Malgus, the 96th figure in Hasbro’s Star Wars Vintage Collection.
Jango Fett (Saga Legends)
Well, in light of the distribution problems with Hasbro product this year, I got the chance to pick up a few figures I had initially passed on. One that was rather high on my list was this version of Jango Fett (SL05) released back in the Saga Legends assortment.
Republic Commando Boss (CW11)
For me, one of the highlights from the Clone Wars Season 3 episode “Witches of the Mist” was the appearance of the clone commandos from Delta Squad. I have been a fan of both the videogame and the series of books by author Karen Traviss for several years now, and even though there had been action figures made from the group before, their showing up in the TV series gave me hope of seeing improved versions of them.
Odd Ball (Clone Pilot)
Even though Hasbro has been producing Clone Pilots in the Revenge of the Sith uniform regularly since 2005, It was until now that we are getting an official Odd Ball figure with that attire.
Nikto Skiff Guard
Well, Hasbro’s new Nikto Skiff Guard (VC99) is a long overdue update to the original figure made by Kenner for the vintage Return of the Jedi toy line. This is important for some people, because ever since Hasbro re-launched the license back in 1995, fans have had the lingering desire to see the complete roster of characters produced by Kenner in the current line.
Darth Vader
For a character that hasn’t had more than a couple of outings in the Star Wars Vintage Collection by Hasbro, Darth Vader is certainly one that I didn’t feel the need to get once again. However, the latest Darth Vader (VC93) does represent a fairly needed update.
Anakin Skywalker
Well, as you may recall, back when Hasbro announced a new action figure line devoted to the then new CGI Clone Wars show, one question that popped up every now and then was if there would be figures made from the characters in the show, done in the realistic style.
Jabba The Hutt Statuette
I know, I don’t normally review statues. But, this one of the few that I have. Well, two that I have. This is an Applause statue of Jabba and Leia done in faux bronze. I know these days most of these types of statues come painted. Honestly though, I kind of like the bronze tone. […]
Clone Commander Cody (CW7)
It has been quite some time since I bought (or even found) any Clone Wars figure. With Hasbro’s resources stretched thin between all of their lines in production, in 2012 we are not getting as much Clone Wars product as last year and some of the figures shipping in 2012 are re-issued from last year.
Grand Moff Tarkin
Well, if there ever was one character I absolutely thought that belonged in the Star Wars Vintage Collection by Hasbro, it is Grand Moff Tarkin.
Luke Skywalker (Lightsaber Construction)
Well, it took some time, but finally Hasbro produced the Luke Skywalker figure they should have put out back when they released the Jedi Knight Luke last year on the cardback with the scene from Jabba’s Palace, although this version of Luke Skywalker (VC87) is based on one of the deleted scenes included as an extra for the Blu-Ray release of the original trilogy.
Colonel Cracken (Millennium Falcon Crew)
With a whole half-wave devoted to characters from the deleted scenes in Return of the Jedi (included as an extra bonus in the Blu –ray release of the original film trilogy), it was inevitable that some of them would be generic background characters.
Lando Calrissian (Sandstorm Outfit)
It’s been quite a while since we got a Lando action figure with his skiff guard disguise. Back in the 80’s that version of Lando was among my favorites because he had a removable helmet and that was pretty uncommon then.
Leia Organa (Sandstorm Outfit)
Leia Organa (Sandstorm Outfit) was released in the second wave of figures for the Star ]Wars Vintage Collection (VC88) in 2012, but that doesn’t mean she’s a truly new product, even if the inspiration for this figure comes from the deleted scenes included as a bonus for the Blu-ray release of the Star Wars movies.
Luke Skywalker (Hoth Outfit)
Hasbro had been promising a cold-weather Luke ever since they first announced a newly sculpted Taun Taun, over a year ago, and they pretty much delivered with their latest Luke Skywalker (Hoth Outfit) figure, numbered as 95th in the Star Wars Vintage Collection and released as part of the third wave of figures from 2012.
Imperial Navy Commander
The Imperial Navy Commander (VC94) is one action figure I didn’t expect from Hasbro at this point, because not too long ago we had the Imperial Navy Troopers released in the 30th Anniversary and Saga Legends lines (their cards read Death Star Troopers both times). That was a reasonably fine figure, so I wasn’t expecting any drastic changes, but the figure released by Hasbro as part of the third wave of the Star Wars Vintage Collection in 2012, is a very welcome improvement.
Darth Maul
It’s been a while since I got a Darth Maul action figure, the last being the shirtless version from the Legacy Collection based on Expanded Universe material, which is fine, don’t get me wrong, but what I really wanted was a more canon update on the character. Lucky for me, with the 2012 release of Episode I in 3D format, we get the first ever Darth Maul figure made by Hasbro for the Star Wars Vintage Collection.
