Rinzler
The Emperor had Darth Vader. Cobra Commander had Storm Shadow. Mr. Burns had Smithers. Clu, the villain from the TRON Legacy movie has Rinzler
Storm Shadow (Arctic Assault)
Arctic Assault Storm Shadow was released in 2009 as part of wave 3 of Hasbro’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra toy line. Even though the name is somewhat misleading, Storm Shadow did appear in the movie dressed (or undressed) like this in the movie, while in the arctic Cobra base, so technically, so the Artic Assault moniker is correct.
Captain Britain
For some reason, I have always had a certain fascination with flag-costumed superheroes, and Marvel Comics is the only big publisher I know of that can blatantly rip-off the color scheme of any flag and turn it into a striking costume.
Kevin Flynn
For the new TRON Legacy movie, Spin Master managed to deliver a pretty decent line up of figures in the 4 inch scale range but even though most of the figures are actually pretty good…
Ripper (Dreadnok)
Ripper is the first Dreadnok in my small GI Joe collection. I just never really understood them. They are essentially an Aussie motorcycle gang. I’m sure they were styled after the baddies in the Mad Max series of films. It’s not that they aren’t entertaining, but other than a diversion what military purpose would they […]
Archangel
One of the most sought after figures in Marvel Universe Series 2, Archangel was a Fan’s Choice winner in 2009.
Gelagrub Patrol
Generally, the Star Wars Battlepack format has been good to fans. In a box you get several figures and accessories for a cost that oftentimes is lower than what you’d pay for each individually carded figure.
Sam Flynn
Despite the rather limited impact they had with their Last Airbender toy line, Spin Master got the license to produce toys for the upcoming TRON: Legacy movie by Disney.
Arctic Assault Snake Eyes
Since this is a movie inspired figure, the silent commando dispenses with the black ensemble he normally wears pretty much everywhere in comic books and cartoons, and instead comes attired with proper cold weather garments.
Spiderman (House of M)
Of late, I find that collecting Hasbro Marvel Universe figures is becoming a lot like collecting Star Wars Clone Troopers, in the sense that there are only a few new molds developed each year and then we get to buy a lot of repaints with minimal changes done to them for quite some time.
Iron Man Mk.VI (Power Up Glow)
As a matter of principle, I usually shun gimmick figures. In most cases these features are either hideous to look at or mess with the articulation in some way. In the case of this Iron Man figure it is the later scenario but as it turns out, the end result is quite above tolerable in that regard.
Black Guard
Without knowing yet much about the plot of the movie, I can venture a guess that the Black Guard is part of a much larger cadre of troops in the service of the bad guy (red and black as a color scheme kind of give away their allegiance),
Clu’s Sentry
Well, you know that whenever an action figure is named after his job description the character it’s based on must be some kind of minion with a very low life expectancy when facing hero-type characters, kind of like Imperial Stormtroopers or Trek red shirts.
Clu
In the original TRON movie, programs in the inner computer world tended to look like the people who wrote them, so actor Jeff Bridges got to play two roles, that of Flynn, the digitized user trapped in the system and Clu, the program he wrote to hack into the ENCOM mainframe.
Luke Cage
Luke Cage (a.k.a. Power Man) was released in 2010 as part of the second (H.A.M.M.E.R.) series of figures in the Hasbro’s Marvel Universe line. For this series, Hasbro upped the ante by offering a few new body types with unique sculpts.
Kitty Pryde
Hasbro released Kitty Pryde as figure number 17 in their second series of Marvel Universe figures. At this point, it is no surprise that she uses the same female body we have seen before, and it is becoming increasingly evident that there is a need to add more variety into the line, at least as far as female characters are concerned.
Iron Man (Extremis Armor)
The most recent Iron Man version in the Marvel Universe line is this Extremis Armor Iron Man. The basics behind the new suit is that Tony Stark got infected by a nano-virus that bestowed upon him the ability to interface directly with the hardware and …
Tripwire (GI Joe)
This is one of those figures that doesn’t seem to be getting much love. He’s still warming the pegs at local discount stores here for around $3. Tripwire is the mine sweeper of the GI Joe team. Armed with a metal detector, he’d go out and search for mines. Sad to say, but you don’t […]
Kamakura (Rise of Cobra)
As part of the Not-Actually-Seen-In-The-Movie characters, Kamakura is constructed with a number of parts taken from the 25th Anniversary line as well as some of the newer molds used for the first batches of movie figures.
