Mega Cannon Spider-Man
A $5 price tag was enough to make me realize I didn’t own a 3.75″ Spidey figure. Now, while there were plenty of movie figures on the pegs, I wanted something a little more true to the Spider-Man I know. To that end, I went with the Mega Cannon version. Appearance: This version reminds me […]
Clone Commander Wolffe (Phase 2 Armor)
Clone Commander Wolffe (CW17) is another of the “new” characters that made it into Hasbro’s The Clone Wars assortment. The character is relatively prominent because he is the commander of the clones serving under Jedi Master Ploo Koon, a character that is voiced by none other than TV series producer/director Dave Filoni.
Mandalorian Speeder
The inclusion of the Mandalorians back in the second season of the Clone Wars CGI show caused some stir because it practically tore down most of what author Karen Traviss had been writing about them ever since the publication of her Republic Commando novel.
Underscoopfire’s 50 Greatest GI Joe Characters
I was recently asked to take part in an UnderScoopFire panel to select the 50 Greatest GI Joe characters and 50 Greatest Cobras. It was a lot of fun and really made me think. You can check out the Joe list here: USF’s 50 Greatest GI Joe Characters and the Cobra one here: USF’s 50 […]
Cosmic Spear Loki
Loki is one of those Marvel villains I never cared much for. That is, until the Thor movie came along and director Kenneth Brannagh added quite some depth to the character played by Tom Hiddlestone
Clone Commander Fox (CW18)
One staple in the current Clone Wars line by Hasbro is (obviously) the incluision of Clone Troopers in their various designations and ranks in every wave.
Beta Ray Bill
Who dresses like Thor, has the powers of Thor, wields a magical hammer and has a skeletal horse face? Why, it is none other than today’s review subject, everybody’s favorite Korbinite, Beta Ray Bill.
Hulk
Once upon a time, way back in the 80’s, I remember standing in line at a supermarket and perusing one of those magazines stores like to keep handy at the checkout. In there was an interview with Lou Ferrigno. Nothing particularly noteworthy, except there was a shot of the actor holding what I though was the most amazing Hulk Action Figure I had ever seen …
Shatter Blaster Iron Man
So, within the same year, Hasbro saw fit to release yet another version of the Iron Man Mk. VII armor that debuted in the Avengers movie.
Darth Vader (Light-Up Lightsaber)
Today I’m reviewing something that is, evidently, a novelty figure. However, even within the constraints imposed to this type of toys, I have to admit Hasbro did a really good job with this Darth Vader (MH20), released as part of the 2012 Movie Heroes line.
Darth Vader (X-Ray Head)
I’m one of those folks who gave up on buying Darth Vader figures years ago. Yet, the new “X-Ray” head version was just too tempting. Appearance: This figure is like a lot of other Vader and Luke figure and tied to one particular scene from the films. Specifically, he’s from the scene when he is […]
Volstagg
Hasbro released Volstagg as part of the Thor movie line last year. He was part of a wave that apparently didn’t see a wide release anywhere, so I was fairly surprised to find him in a street vendor’s cardboard box in one of my trips to downtown in Mexico City.
Jawas (CW08)
While the Jawas (CW08) were seen briefly in the Jabba’s Palace scenes from the Clone Wars Movie, it took about two seasons to finally get them done in Hasbro’s Clone Wars line.
5 Marvel Movie Characters I Want Figures Of (But Won’t Happen)
As a long time Star Wars figure collector, I’ve gotten use to the fact if I wait long enough I’ll see a character from that universe in figure form. However, the Marvel Movie universe is another story. While heavy on the main characters, these lines have been rather small in scope and depth. That said […]
Cosmic Axe Chitauri
Well, the Chitauri were the alien invaders that Iron Man and his buddies fought in the movie The Avengers. Since this was an alien race developed for the movie, their design was kept in secret to the last minute
Darth Malgus
Straight from the Star Wars: The Old Republic videogame, by developer BioWare, comes Darth Malgus, the 96th figure in Hasbro’s Star Wars Vintage Collection.
Jango Fett (Saga Legends)
Well, in light of the distribution problems with Hasbro product this year, I got the chance to pick up a few figures I had initially passed on. One that was rather high on my list was this version of Jango Fett (SL05) released back in the Saga Legends assortment.
Nick Fury
One of the things that I think really brings the comic book feel to the newest Marvel films is the sense of shared universe. The best example is Nick Fury, played by Samuel L Jackson. He is one of the common threads through these films that helps unite them. Appearance: I don’t know what they […]
Republic Commando Boss (CW11)
For me, one of the highlights from the Clone Wars Season 3 episode “Witches of the Mist” was the appearance of the clone commandos from Delta Squad. I have been a fan of both the videogame and the series of books by author Karen Traviss for several years now, and even though there had been action figures made from the group before, their showing up in the TV series gave me hope of seeing improved versions of them.
Odd Ball (Clone Pilot)
Even though Hasbro has been producing Clone Pilots in the Revenge of the Sith uniform regularly since 2005, It was until now that we are getting an official Odd Ball figure with that attire.
