Malakili (Rancor Keeper POTF2)
In the nineties, Hasbro decided that the time was right to bring Star Wars figures back to the world. In hindsight, that was probably a great decision. The original Star Wars generation had reached an age where they had disposable income and were feeling nostalgic for their childhood. At this point Power of the Force […]
Rancor Keeper (Kenner)
Ironically, Kenner’s Star Wars figures are what started my figure collection back when I was wee Nerd. However, I’ve never reviewed a vintage figure on the site. I’ve review other vintage stuff, but never a Kenner 3 3/4″ figure. To continue the Rancor Keeper theme, I decided he’d be the first. You all know him. […]
Shipwreck GI Joe Rise of Cobra
Shipwreck is one of the characters I was really surprised didn’t make the cut for GI Joe: Rise of Cobra. His snarky attitude made him a fan favorite in the animated and comic book versions of Joe. (Flash was the other one I was expecting to see in action in the film.) While the vintage […]
Giran
Giran was released in 2009 as part of the fourth wave of red-carded Legacy Collection figures from Hasbro. This wave is inspired in the characters seen in the Episode VI: Return of the Jedi movie.
Jawa & Security Droid
Frequent visitors to the site will know that I have a soft spot for Jawas. I think the pint sized scavengers just captured my imagination when I was a kid and didn’t let go. Frequent readers will also know that I like figures that are able to sit. With this most recent Jawa release we […]
Avatar Jake Sully (RDA)
Mattel released Avatar Jake Sully (RDA) in 2009 as part of the initial wave of 1:18 scale (3.75 inch) figures devoted to the Avatar movie directed by James Cameron.
Rex “The Doctor” Lewis
Ever since Episode One of Star Wars came out, I’ve made an effort to avoid as many spoilers for a film as I can without going out of my way. I really wanted to like “GI Joe: Rise of Cobra” before I saw it. But I had my doubts. As such, I really didn’t get […]
Neytiri
Avatar is a movie directed by James Cameron that will open at theaters in December 2009, although toys inspired by it have been surfacing as early as October 2009. Mattel released Neytiri in 2009 within the first wave of 1:18 scale (3.75 inch) figures in the toy line inspired by the movie. Neytiri is the […]
Tsu’tey
Out of the first wave of figures from Mattel’s Avatar toy line, I must say that the Na’vi seem to me to be the most interesting. Among them, is Tsu’tey from the Omaticaya clan.
Eytukan
The figure that practically sealed the deal for me in regards of picking up more figures from Mattel’s Avatar line was Eytukan, who is the chieftain of the Omaticaya (Bright Flute) clan and father of Neytiri.
Ewok 2 Pack (Paploo & Nho’Apakk)
It amazes he me how many people online profess hatred for the Ewoks in “Return of the Jedi.” You would think if that many folks despised them, they would be peg warming every time they released a new one. But they don’t. People snag the little critters when they see them. I’ve said it before, […]
Snake Eyes (Paris Pursuit)
Snake Eyes (Paris Pursuit) is arguably among the coolest figures from the movie line, even though if it’s not the most pose-able of the bunch, and it succeeds in providing a refreshing new look for the character.
Errex Score: 95/100
Princess Leia (Jabba’s Prisoner)
Back in 1997, when the first “Slave Girl” or “Dancing Girl” Leia came out, it was a figure that I thought would never get made. However, this year’s “Legacy” series from Hasbro has brought another new version of this figure. Obviously, this version of Leia is popular with the fanboys. It’s tough as nails Princess […]
Conrad “Duke” Hauser (Reactive Impact Armor)
After getting the previous version of Duke (the Desert Ambush version), I was not too interested on picking up this one too, but after seeing it in person, I decided to take the plunge and get it.
Storm Shadow (Paris Pursuit)
Hasbro released the Storm Shadow (Paris Pursuit) figure in 2009 as part of the second wave of figures from the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra line, based on the appearance of the character in the motion picture of the same name.
Cobra Elite Viper
As of this writing, I haven’t watched “GI Joe: Rise of Cobra” yet. I will, I just haven’t had a chance yet. Overall, the movie line of GI Joe figures has grown on me. However, the nearest Wal-Mart reduced their prices on the standard figures to $6. That makes me like them a whole lot […]
Deluxe Deadpool with Missile Cannon
Hasbro released Deadpool with Missile Launcher Cannon in 2009 as part of the Deluxe assortment of toys based on the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. This release is based on his comic appearance and includes a big accessory for the figure. Deadpool is a character first introduced as a villain in X-Force #98, but proved popular enough […]
Why The New “V” Doesn’t Work for This Nerd
I’ll be up front with you. I didn’t really watch the original mini series or full season runs of the original “V.” I can’t tell you why, it seems like something my young mind would have liked at the time. I remember watching a few of them, but never really following it. So I think, […]
Conrad “Duke” Hauser (Desert Ambush)
I’m really excited to introduce this guest review. Errex is a long time TVFT forum contributor with a pretty extensive collection. Kicking off what I hope will be a great series of reviews, Errex is showing off the Desert Ambush Duke from GI Joe: Rise of Cobra. Take it away: Right off the bat, I […]
GI Joe Pit Commando
If you have read any of my other GI Joe reviews, you would know I’m a sucker for accessories. Frequently, my selection revolves around how full a blister is rather that the exact Joe character. Stalker was a cool dude, but a single rifle on the card didn’t appeal to me. The Baroness figure from […]
