501st Legion Clone Trooper (Clone Wars)
The 501st Legion Clone Trooper is the last clone trooper action figure offered in the animated style Clone Wars line by Hasbro, and it is fundamentally a straight repaintof the Mk.II Clone Trooper released in 2012.
Hyperion (Marvel Legends)
The figure I’m reviewing today, from the Hit Monkey wave in Marvel Legends line is Hyperion. Apparently, the name has been used for more than one character in the Marvel Universe, sometimes the character turned out to be villainous, sometimes not, but the one we are talking about today certainly falls in the good-guy spectrum.
Red She-Hulk (Marvel Legends)
It’s been quite a while since I read a Hulk comic, but thanks to the Internet I had a fair grasp of the history behind this Hulkette.
Absorbing Man
Absorbing Man uses the exact same mold used for a comic 2-Pack with Dr. Doom, with a couple different paintjobs for his individual release as part of Marvel Universe Series 3.
Hypervelocity Armor Iron Man
Continuing the moratorium against the new Iron Man 3 figures, I decided to go back and pick up another of the action figures released under the Concept Series segment in the Iron Man 2 collection by Hasbro.
Zartan (Retaliation)
I have come to realize that the G.I. Joe: Retaliation movie was, at its heart, a project meant to boost toy sales instead of the opposite, where the toys are meant to promote theater attendance.
War Machine (Iron Man 3 Assemblers)
I’d been avoiding Iron Man 3 figures pretty much since they came out. Since they seemed to be lacking most of what I’d liked about the Iron Man 2 line, they were a pretty easy pass. I had picked up something in passing, War Machine was only available in the “Assemblers” version, the larger interchangeable limbs […]
Joe Con 2013: Custom Figures
I started with the dioramas because they are a personal favorite. However, there was just as much talent on display in the custom figure competition. This was actually in the diorama category, I just forgot to put it over there. I dig astronauts, so this 12″ Joe was fun for me to see. […]
Heroic Age Iron Man
While I usually shy away from collecting figures in scales other than 3.75-inch, I find it hard sometimes to resist buying characters or versions of characters when they made them in different scales.
Captain Rex (Phase II Armor)
Clone Captain Rex is a character that has been made into action figures a few times now in the Clone Wars collection by Hasbro, starting with a really cool wave 1 release and sprinkled throughout subsequent waves up until this last one.
Joe Con 2013: Diorama Contest
I was completely blown away at the quality of dioramas on display at Joe Con 2013. You can tell the folks that put these together are passionate about their hobby for sure. I could have spent all day looking at just these and probably not seen all the cool details. I had to include […]
Astonishing Beast
It’s been quite a while since I picked up an X-Men comic book, so when images of the more recent Beast action figure started appearing online, I was rather puzzled by his appearance. A lot of the character’s personality got lost in translation in the comic books I used to read in the […]
Firefly (Retaliation)
Other than Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, I would say that Firefly is one of the more iconic characters in the vintage G.I. Joe line, as evidenced by the couple dozen versions released for the character since then.
Ponda Baba
One of the more memorable aliens in the Cantina Scene from the original Star Wars movie is the Walrus Man, later named as Ponda Baba in West End Games’ Galaxy Guide 1: A New Hope, published in 1989.
Blind Bag Star Wars Angry Birds
I’d never gave Angry Birds a second thought. I’d seen screen shots. I understood what it was. I just didn’t have interest. It didn’t help that it was way over merchandised. Including the slew of stuff that was released to coincide with the Space and Star Wars releases. What changed you may ask? My mom. […]
Battle-Kata Roadblock (Retaliation)
As an adult collector, I find it difficult sometimes to go along with some of the design decisions Hasbro makes, one recent example being the portrayal of the Roadblock character in the action figure line for the upcoming G.I. Joe Retaliation movie.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Light-Up Lightsaber)
Continuing my look at the novelty figures released by Hasbro, as part of the 2012 Movie Heroes line today is the turn of the Light-up version of Obi –Wan Kenobi.
Rock & Roll (GI Joe Kreo)
I know everybody wanted GI Joe Lego. A quick image search will yield a number of custom creations out there. However, Hasbro wouldn’t want to license somebody to do that when they have their own Kreo building block line. I want to say up front the character choice show this line was created by fans of the […]
Ultimate Armour Iron Man
This Iron Man was released as part of the last wave of Iron Man 2 action figures by Hasbro a couple of years ago. The mold is the exact same they used for the Mk. 2, Mk.3 and a couple of Concept Armors, with only a different paintjob.
