I've been collecting action figures since the original Kenner Star Wars days. Nowadays, I still collect pretty much anything that catches my eye.
Cad Bane w/ TODO 360 (CW42)
One of the new characters introduced in the Clone Wars TV is Cad Bane, the guy that gets billed as the top bounty hunter in the galaxy after Jango Fett meets his grisly fate at Geonosis.
Spartan Gungnir Custom
The name Gungnir comes from Norse myths, as this was the name of Odin’s spear, reputed to never miss a mark. In the Halo universe, Project Gungnir was responsible of developing the Spartan Laser weapon as well as additional gear to be used in conjunction with the Spartan Mjölnir armor.
Cable
Cable is one of those Marvel characters I could not wait to see made as part of the Marvel Universe line. Was it worth the wait? Well, yes and no.
Rebel Fleet Trooper
The very first time we see rebel soldiers is during the boarding action on the Tantive IV, in Star Wars: A New Hope. Even though Kenner didn’t make an action figure based on that costume design, up until the late 90’s, Hasbro had one version released in the Saga days incorporating the then innovative angled cut-joints for elbows and knees. Luckily, Hasbro decided to re-visit this character class in their Star Wars Vintage Collection, giving us a wholly upgraded Rebel Fleet Triooper (VC52) as part of their seventh wave of figures.
Cyclops (Blue Team Uniform)
Cyclops isn’t necessarily one of my favorite Marvel characters in terms of his personality, but the way he is depicted in media always seem s to translate well into action figure form. There have been a couple of action figures made of him in Hasbro’s Marvel Universe line, but the version released as part of the second wave of figures in Series 3 is one I had been hoping to see for a while now.

Missile Launcher with JFO Spartan
Well, one of the flagship items in the Halo:Reach collection by McFarlane Toys is the UNSC vehicle known as the Warthog. This vehicle is pretty much the workhorse of the UNSC army and it is designed to take on a number of roles in the battlefield. However, this review is not going to be about that piece. Instead, I want to let you know about one of the Vehicle Upgrade Sets released in Series 3 of this line.
Ahsoka Tano (CW44)
Despite Hasbro Mexico’s best efforts, I still buy the odd Clone Wars figure when distribution doesn’t suck. Case in point, a figure that was allegedly released at the beginning of 2011, the newer incarnation of Ahsoka Tano (CW44).
Darth Nil & Delia Blue (Star Wars Comic Packs)
Even though the Hasbro 2-figure Comic Packs are no longer in production, the general consensus was that these were pretty good value for the money, by including two action figures and a reprint of a comic book.
Angelica
Other than Blackbeard, the one figure I was completely sure I’d get from Jakks Pacific’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides line was the pirate’s daughter, Angelica.
Darth Vader and Stromtrooper (Jedi Force)
I was somewhat puzzled when Hasbro announced that they were going to stop making the Galactic Heroes line in favor of the new Jedi Force figures. I was never a big Galactic Heroes collector, but since I ended getting quite a few of them over the years (mostly when there was nothing else Star Wars related to buy at local stores), I kind of expected the line to go on for quite a long time still.
Ivan “Whiplash” Vanko
When the visual checklists for the upcoming Iron Man 2 waves of figures were made public, around summer 2010, I was actually excited by the possibility of getting a figure of Whiplash in this collection.
Blackbeard
Even though I was not blown away by the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, I admit that I found it entertaining and thus, my disposition towards the associated merchandise was fairly positive.
Deluxe Frost Giant
Right off the gate, I knew that the one figure I would like to have, from the 2011 Thor line by Hasbro, was the Deluxe Frost Giant
Spartan Air Assault Custom (female)
One of the most striking aspects of McFarlane’s Halo: Reach line (apart from the scale change, that is) is the inclusion of female Spartan’s to the UNSC ranks.
Sergeant Forge
I have not played Halo Wars. I will not play Halo Wars. Despite the mostly positive reviews that game accrued, for me the meat of the Halo universe are the shooting games and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
Spartan Military Police Custom (Blue Team)
I must say that I was not immediately taken with McFarlane’s Halo: Reach line. I started buying the figures when they debuted their Halo 3 line-up, but the Reach Spartans were not an immediate hit with me.
Logray
I must confess that I was not particularly excited to learn that there would be a new release of this character in Hasbro’s 2011 Vintage Collection. To my eye, the Kenner vintage one still holds it’s own against the more recent POTF version, and after seeing the other, updated ewoks that have ben released in the past few years, I didn’t think there would be a significant improvement.
Master Chief (Halo 2)
Ever since McFarlane started working the Halo license, the one character they have kept getting out every year has been that of the hero of the saga, Master Chief also known as John-117.
ARC Trooper Commander (Fordo)
You may remember that not too long after the debut of the new Clone Wars line of figures, Hasbro was adamant that they’d never make figures based on characters from the show in the more realistic style of the Legacy or Saga Legends lines. And to a point, they have kept their word in that regard. However, it seems that the Clone Wars Micro-series is fair game, and that’s were the figure I’m reviewing today originated.
