Guardian
Guardian’s costume is a deceptively simple one, consisting basically in a skin-tight attire with a cowl, with a color scheme patterned after the Canadian flag. The only original piece of sculpting is the head, which is well detailed, although a little bit on the generic side of things.
501st Legion Clone Trooper (Clone Wars)
The 501st Legion Clone Trooper is the last clone trooper action figure offered in the animated style Clone Wars line by Hasbro, and it is fundamentally a straight repaintof the Mk.II Clone Trooper released in 2012.
The Silence (Doctor Who Titans)
I have to say while a bit of a retread of the Weeping Angels, I’m a big fan of the Silence. They are just creepy enough to stick with you. Once again I let Mrs. Nerd pick a Doctor Who Titans box and it paid off. She has an uncanny knack for this blind packed stuff. […]
Hyperion (Marvel Legends)
The figure I’m reviewing today, from the Hit Monkey wave in Marvel Legends line is Hyperion. Apparently, the name has been used for more than one character in the Marvel Universe, sometimes the character turned out to be villainous, sometimes not, but the one we are talking about today certainly falls in the good-guy spectrum.
Bumblebee Girl
Lego has served up some great minifigures again in Series 10 of their blind bags. I really don’t have hope of finding a Mister Gold, but that really doesn’t bother me. I was in the store feeling through a bunch of bags looking for Medusa’s tail and was striking out. However, I did feel something […]
Joe Con 2013: Part 4
In retrospect, I should have put 3D Joes in Part 3. What you’ve never heard of 3D Joes? It’s an awesome website with rotating displays of a pretty good chunk of the earlier GI Joe figures. It’s a fantastic use of technology. They had the system on display and it’s pretty amazing how easy it […]
Ghost Rider (Bobble Head)
If you heard the episode of the Action Figure Blues Podcast where I talked about getting this guy, you would know that I was excited bout him. Previous to this I hadn’t picked up any of Funko’s offerings. They are cute and all, but I was never in the right place at the right time. […]
Mystery Minion
I’ve been pretty vocal about how I wished there had been more Minion merchandise available from the first Despicable Me film. Mrs. Nerd and I both love them. Well, they certainly made up for it this time around. Take Minions and blind bag them? Yeah, I’m in. Stuart is the first one I’m looking at. […]
Joe Con 2013: Part 3
There were a fair number of GI Joe informational booths at Joe Con. I really have a lot of respect for these folks. They weren’t there selling anything, but rather there to promote the hobby and provide information. Two very cool sites were there that I had a chance to talk to: Yo Joe and […]
Red She-Hulk (Marvel Legends)
It’s been quite a while since I read a Hulk comic, but thanks to the Internet I had a fair grasp of the history behind this Hulkette.
Marcus Fenix
The latest figure I picked up from NECA’s 1/18 scale Gears of War line is none other than the main hero, Marcus Fenix. Apparently he already was a recognized war hero even before the Locust War broke out, but again, just by looking at the figure you can tell he is supposed to be a tough-as-nails warrior.
Kyle Latino Sketches GI Joe
I’m going to break into my Joe Con posts to show off something I’m really happy with. Every year at our local comic con, I typically ask Kyle Latino for a pulp character sketch. He really has the style down and gets those characters, so they are always fantastic. This year I changed it up, […]
Absorbing Man
Absorbing Man uses the exact same mold used for a comic 2-Pack with Dr. Doom, with a couple different paintjobs for his individual release as part of Marvel Universe Series 3.
Damon Baird
The second figure I picked up from the 1/18 Gears of War line by NECA is Damon Baird. Again, not having played the game, all I know about the character is what it says in the back of the card, which is actually very little besides of him being a quick thinker, somewhat of a tactical and mechanical genius, as well as having insubordination issues.
Hypervelocity Armor Iron Man
Continuing the moratorium against the new Iron Man 3 figures, I decided to go back and pick up another of the action figures released under the Concept Series segment in the Iron Man 2 collection by Hasbro.
Lego Gandalf Polybag
I have to hand it to Lego. They’ve realized that there are a group of collectors out there primarily interested in the minifigures and have given us ways to get primary characters without having to buy a huge set. This Gandalf came poly bagged around Easter and didn’t hang around too long. Gandalf is much […]
Zartan (Retaliation)
I have come to realize that the G.I. Joe: Retaliation movie was, at its heart, a project meant to boost toy sales instead of the opposite, where the toys are meant to promote theater attendance.
War Machine (Iron Man 3 Assemblers)
I’d been avoiding Iron Man 3 figures pretty much since they came out. Since they seemed to be lacking most of what I’d liked about the Iron Man 2 line, they were a pretty easy pass. I had picked up something in passing, War Machine was only available in the “Assemblers” version, the larger interchangeable limbs […]
Ood (Titans Vinyl Figure)
I don’t know when it happened, but I’m turning into a blind packed figure junkie. I just kind of dig the little ones. When I was a local store had the Doctor Who Titans figures, I decided to get one. I knew there was an Ood, which is a character Mrs. Nerd and I […]
