I've been collecting action figures since the original Kenner Star Wars days. Nowadays, I still collect pretty much anything that catches my eye.
Harley Quinn & Joker (Imaginext)
Harley Quinn & Joker came out in 2014 in the DC Superheroes Imaginext line, and they both are quite interesting figures to look at.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Black Series)
This version of Obi-Wan Kenobi was released by Hasbro as part of the third wave of figures in their Star Wars Black Series line.
Wonder Woman & Superman (Imaginext)
A thing that has been somewhat absent from the Imaginext line is female characters, but that also seems to be changing nowadays. Case in point, the other day at the store I found a 2-pack set of figures that includes Superman and Wonder Woman.
Wasp Predator
After getting me some of NECA’s Predator figures and fulfilling my requirement for movie-based designs, I just knew that I would still go back and get some more of these figures even if they were actually non-canonical versions of these alien hunters.
Beetle
Beetle would probably be one of the most striking characters included in the Marvel Legends Infinite Series by Hasbro.
Boba Fett (Black Series)
The 6-inch version of Boba Fett released in the second wave of figures from Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series was surprisingly hard to find for me.
Xenomorph Warrior
When I began buying NECA action figures from the Predator and Alien series of movies, one figure I kept my eye out for was precisely any of the different Alien creatures.
Captain America (World War 2 Uniform)
I remember that when I saw the first wave of figures in the Marvel Legends Infinite Series for the Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie, I thought that Hasbro had made a mistake including the version of Captain America in his WWII uniform.
Scout Predator
Ever since I wetted my beak into NECA’s Predator figures, I wanted to get the original Predator from the first film, or at least a passable approximation, and this Scout Predator from Series 6 fits the bill perfectly.
Hulk & Thor (Playskool Heroes)
As I have repeated several times, some character designs work well within the Playskool format, while others don’t really lend themselves to the conversion, and in this set we get to see an example of each.
Stormtrooper (Black Series)
It would be hard to argue that the most sought after figure in Hasbro’s third wave of figures from the 6-inch Star Wars Black Series is the Stormtrooper
2014 Year in Review
Collecting-wise, 2014 was a very diverse year for me, although unfocused might be the better way of describing it.
A.I.M. Scientist
Of course, you can tell this AIM Scientist does not appear in the film just by looking at the decidedly comic book-inspired design.
Ultimate Goblin
Well, after getting all of the figures in the Spider-Man Marvel Legends Infinite Series, I ended up with more than enough pieces to build the Build-A-Figure, which is none other than the Ultimate’s version of the Green Goblin.
Slave Leia (Black Series)
I never quite got the reason Hasbro decided to make this the first version of Princess Leia to appear as part of their Star Wars Black Series 6-inch figure line.
Toxin
Toxin is another of those characters I knew almost nothing about prior to buying the figure. In fact, just by the look of him, I had assumed he was yet another Spider-Man foe, but as it turns out, he is actually one of the good guys despite his rather monstrous visage.
Spider-Girl
Spider-Girl is one of those characters I really know nothing about, but the visual aspect of the figure was enough of an encouragement for me to pick it up on sight.
Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Force)
It has been rather quiet on the Star Wars collectible front lately, so I picked up this Playskool set featuring the heroes from Star Wars Episode I, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Desert Troopers (Call of Duty)
Well after dabbling into the Megabloks Call of Duty line with the Drone Attack set, I really wanted to pick up a troop builder set, so to keep things consistent I went for the one with the desert troopers. Set #06825 Desert Troopers contains 146 pieces, of which at least 90 are made up by […]
Iron Man & War Machine (Playskool Heroes)
And for something slightly different, today I’ll be reviewing a couple of Playskool action figures: The Iron Man & War Machine set that was released early in 2014
